The People’s Party of Canada is currently holding a leadership review of their founder and leader Maxime Bernier. The Party says that this review is for the sake of transparency and accountability, and as such, is calling upon eligible members to take this opportunity to determine the future direction of the Party.
Here is what you need to know about the PPC if you are a member who will be voting in this leadership review:
- In just three years, the PPC has grown from 0% to 5% of the national vote. For perspective, it took Canada's Green Party nearly 35 years to achieve 5%!
- Bernier has promised that, under a PPC government, federal funding would be withheld from post-secondary institutions violating student's or faculty member's freedom of expression.
- Bernier is opposed to Trudeau's talk therapy "conversion therapy" Bill C-6 and has promised to repeal Bill C-16 which added gender identity and gender expression as prohibited grounds of discrimination to the Canadian Human Rights Act.
- Bernier voted against Trudeau's 2016 Bill C-14 which legalized euthanasia in Canada.
DETAILS: (From November 12, 2021, to December 3, 2021, SimplyVoting, a third-party firm based in Montreal, will independently conduct voting and provide the results.
Only members who held a valid Party membership on September 20, 2021—the date of the recent federal election—will be permitted to vote on this review.)
Whether you are currently a part of the People's Party of Canada or not, understanding the process of how leaders are chosen is crucial as these are the very individuals who could be implementing policies for or against the flourishing of our families!
